About me

A life between three languages, and a profession born of multiculturalism.

I grew up between three languages. As a pupil at the Collège Saint-Louis des Français in Pozuelo, Madrid, from 1982 to 1996, I received a bilingual education that made French and Spanish my two languages of thought, long before they became my profession. But that was not all. At home, my father and his whole family, who came from the Philippines and spoke Spanish and English, had a boundless admiration for the English language and Anglo-Saxon culture.

In 2001 I earned a double master’s degree (maîtrise) in Translation and Interpreting and in Modern Literature at Cluny-ISEIT, the Madrid branch of the Faculty of Letters of the Catholic University of Paris. When I arrived there I was a frustrated astronaut… By the time I left, wonderful teachers had brought a passionate translator to life.

At the end of 2009 I managed to break into publishing, no easy feat in such a closed world. Monte Carmelo was the first publisher in giving me a chance, and I would never thank them enough. One of life’s little winks: the frustrated astronaut found herself immersed, for that very first translation, in a huge book on astronomy… Delightful!

I have lent my pen to James Martin, Guy Gaucher, John W. O’Malley, Emmanuel Gobilliard, Ursula King, Gaël Giraud and Pierre Emonet. I have travelled in the company of Che Guevara and Thérèse of Lisieux, of Dolores Aleixandre and Teilhard de Chardin. New publishers have placed their trust in me, and I thank them too: Sal Terrae and Grupo de Comunicación Loyola, Éditions Jésuites, Vie Chrétienne, L’Homme Nouveau and Éditions du Rocher.

Beyond books, I have been lucky enough to discover wonderful journals that have called on me to make their fragile and precious message resonate in several languages: the Jesuit Yearbook, in French and Spanish, and the journal Promotio Iustitiae of the General Curia of the Society of Jesus in Rome. Living near Le Puy-en-Velay, one of the great starting points of the Way of St James, I had the honour in 2011 of providing consecutive interpreting for the Third Meeting of French and Spanish Bishops of the Way of St James.

Because word and life go hand in hand, my path also led me to train in the cognitive development of people with disabilities (Upbraining, 2013-2014). In the humanities, my knowledge of education and intellectual disability is a real asset. And because I love learning, I am now studying for a degree in theology at the Catholic University of Lyon, to keep refining the quality of my work.

As an author, I published “Petit bouquet pour une maman inconnue” in 2024, in a bilingual edition, in France with Saint-Léger Éditions and in Spain with Editorial Fonte. My latest book, “Faire des bouquets de marguerites sous les bombes”, will come out at the end of 2026 with Parole et Silence.

I live and work in the Haute-Loire, in France, near Le Puy-en-Velay.
